Southwest Center Stage

The first in a series of concerts showcasing Tucson artists, Southwest Center Stage was co-sponsored by KXCI Radio, recorded live August 1995, and edited into a one-hour radio program available on CD. Featured artists are Sam Taylor and his blues band, Bwiya-Toli (music from the Andes), Out of the Blue (bluegrass and swing), and Stefan George and Songtower (urban folk). A great sample of some o the best artists in Tucson Taste the Southwest!

Singer, writer, guitarist, arranger, soul man, blues master and consummate front man, Sam has been making great blues for over 30 years. He has a spirit and commitment to the music that shines in every note.

Bwiya-Toli

This Tucson-based group, in existence since 1979, plays a full range of Latin American instruments, with vocals mainly in Spanish. Bwiya-Toli has done extensive solidarity work here in Tucson, performing at folk festivals, as well as fund raisers and private celebrations.

Out of the Blue

In February, 1995, Out of the Blue released their first CD. Granddaddy's Cabin features a mix of original and cover tunes, showcasing the quartet's unique and vibrant approach to Bluegrass music.

Stefan George and Songtower

An exceptional songwriter and guitarist, Stefan George has gained a loyal following through the region. He and Songtower have been named TAMMIE Award Honorees for Best Acoustic Folk Ensemble for 1994 and 1995. The group has two full-length CDs to their credit, including their latest Cactus & Concrete.
